Contemplating a change in scenery

I am seriously thinking moving this site to Wordpress. I have gotten tired of the countless spam comments I get everyday. All of my other blogger friends (and wife) seemed to have made the move over too. Plus my site is sometimes blocked as inappropriate because of its history as an E/N site for a short time. Yeah, I had some racy stuff on here at one time or another. A majority of my hits still come looking for all that old stuff.

I started this to really journal my life and I still want to do that. I am just looking for a change I guess.

So the truck reached 20,000 miles after coming back from the parent's house on Mother's Day. Of course most of the miles had been put on the week prior because we were on vacation in Daytona Beach. Well the real reason we were down there was for the graduation and commissioning ceremonies of Hakeber's cousin. Since commencement exercises were to be held on Monday we decided to make a week of it down in Florida. Now I must say this up front. We are not beach people. If given a choice between the mountains and the beach we will usually pick the mountains. So we stayed for the whole week and didn't once actually make it out on to the beach or even touch the ocean. We have nothing against beaches mind you, and a majority of our vacations happen at beaches.

Another highlight of the trip was going to Epcot Center. Now this year I had a mission in going there. I was going to attempt the World Showcase Beer Crawl. Starting in Mexico and then ending in Canada I was going to enjoy a beer in every country. I started around 11:30am and ended around 8:15pm. Now it wasn't a record setting pace in any sense because we still wanted to enjoy our time there and check out all the cheesy attractions. Among these attractions was Nelson. That's right, Nelson. Well more like this now. The played a lot of their dad's hits for a older crowd. Among the band members was also the drummer to Candlebox. I guess you take any gig at some point in your career. Although I am sure playing three sets a day for a week at Epcot might actually get you some nice sized cash.

Overall a good trip and I got to play some disc golf at the local parks in Daytona Beach area. I would go back for the disc golf, but not the beaches.
First off let me say it was the best idea to get out of town for the weekend, go to another state, and play some courses I have never even seen before. It really make you feel good about you abilities when you can do well at some courses you see for the first time.
This weekend was the 7th Annual Secret Squirrel Soiree at Redan Park in Lithonia, GA. It was my second year at this event and I knew I was going to do from the fun I had the year before at it. Now last year the tournament was split into an AM weekend and a PRO weekend. This year they didn't do that because the tournament director's wife was due to give birth a few weeks before the tournament. I would have liked the field to be a little bigger for more competition but I digress.

The first two rounds on Saturday were a little rough due to the cold front that decided to pass through that weekend. Seventy degree temperatures several weeks leading up to the event and then it was lows near freezing, highs in the 50s and 20 mph winds. I didn't have much stable plastic in my bag to fight the winds so scores were pretty rough the first day. The second day disc golfing was a little better. I did miss a few easy birdie putts during the final round that could have bumped me up another place. I still finished strong though and took sixth place out of a field of fourteen in my division. I still think I could have done way better overall. Next on the schedule will be the Bowling Green Amateur Championships.

So Hakeber is off enjoying a meeting at her work on a Saturday. Yep, I said Saturday. At least it is not as bad as my old job where I was required to work all weekends. Which pretty much made it impossible to take vacations. But I digress...

I totally thought it was going to be raining most of the day but only woke up to find overcast skies which have now turning into partly cloudy. I had a few things planned to do indoors today because of the impending rain. Cooking breakfast wasn't really one of them just a bonus. I will go disc golfing tomorrow perhaps and hopefully it won't be raining.

Today's plan includes doing laundry, cleaning dishes, letting the Roomba clean the house, putting a new light fixture in the master closest, and starting the front page for the new discgolfatlanta.com. I really need to get started on the latter because the board of directors (yeah you heard me) really wants the new site to be launched by the end of the month. Of course I have known about this deadline for about two months now but am now deciding I need to take some action.

I have also started working on some new blog entries but they are just ideas at this point. I am trying to bring some humor back to this site like I had before. At least I think it had humor. Well I hear the Roomba needs to be rescued so I am outta here....for now.
