Music Meme

So Grabbingsand did it (as well as a bunch of others) and I figured I why not join the lemmings this time. It is about music dammitt! So here are the rules. First go to Music Outfitters and search for the year you graduated high school (assumming of course that you did, but I guess you could just use the year you got your GED if need be). Then I bold what I know and liked, bold and italicize what I know, liked, and had the album, strike out what I didn't like and leave normal what I could care less about (or don't even know it). Of course you can do whatever variation of this you want.

Pure Geek
43 % Nerd, 52% Geek, 17% Dork
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Geek, earning you the title of: Pure Geek.

It's not that you're a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don't really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren't quite mainstream. Perhaps it's anime, perhaps it's computers, perhaps it's bottlecaps, perhaps it's all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don't quite consider yourself "of that crowd." Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal.

Which, you are.

Congratulations! You're the one on the RIGHT!

The (soon to be) Stevensons

Well today at around 6:30ish, David Ty Stevenson and Lisa Bennington will be married. I must say it has been great seeing these two fall in love and begin a life together. I can only wish them the best in the many years to come. I also have to personally thank David for setting me up with my first job after college. You guys are great friends and these songs are for you.

Tackle that drunk bitch!

Just got back for seeing The 40 Year-Old Virgin and I must say it was a fantastic movie. I can't believe how hard I laughed at times. But I am not here to totally spoil the movie for anyone. See the success of a movie depends a lot to me on the power of the movie's soundtrack. That is why some people might go through my DVD collection and wonder why the heck I have a certain movie because it "sucks", "blows" or "makes me throw up a little in my mouth". But let me explain further.

Garden State was not only a great movie but also had an amazing soundtrack. Zach Braff understood that with creating something that was new and fresh for the film industry, he had put the tunes to go with it. He also introduced a few new artists into the mainstream because of it. High Fidelity also made the ultimate mix tape a few years earlier. Hell the whole dang movie was about the perfect song(s) for the perfect moment. In any case, I think The 40 Year-Old Virgin has done the same.

Joey Scarbury - Believe It Or Not (Theme from Greatest American Hero) Hearing this song just makes me think of flying. Really ungraceful, accidental, "about-to-crash-into-a-wall" flying. I was so glad to hear this song in the movie that I had to bite my lip from singing it in the movie theater.

Asia - Heat Of The Moment You can't pick a better song for people about to make out in a movie in the 1980s. Oddly enough it worked in this movie as well.

The 5th Dimension - Aquaruis/Let The Sunshine In The 5th Dimension was years ahead of their time and I can only hope thet this movie will grant them another life. Steve Carell, you rock my face off!

...and it is only $15

So Aqualung is gonna be playing the Variety Playhouse October 5th. Who's coming with me? Well you don't have to actually come with me but you get the idea. Plus I have heard good things about the two other artists before him. Good things. If you haven't heard of Aqualung then you haven't been watching VH1 enough. Anyway below is the title track off his most recent album.

A deeper cut:
Aqualung - Strange & Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You)

Now I just keep my fingers crossed that Jamiroquai will eventually have a US tour someday.

Just cool to say, Firefox

So I made the move to Firefox. All this talk about computer stuff over the past couple of days has got me heated up so to speak. I am told that it blocks more pop-ups than IE does right now. Plus you can customize it with skins and themes and such. Really I just want something that is more stable and blocks pop-ups. We will see if it stands the test of time. For more on switching from IE to Firefox, check this out.

5 outta 6 ain't bad

The only one I didn't get was the picture with the vinyl on the wall. Guess my family was rich or something cause they stopped buying vinyl after the Triller album. Or maybe it was the Eddie Murphy's Party All The Time single. Nevertheless the detail on picture two was very hard to make out the individual labels, but maybe that was the point. Then of course you might realize that I could correctly identify the "mature porn" on his computer screen in picture three. I am not ashamed of this nor am I "in" to mature porn. You just learn to pick out the things you want to avoid just as much as the stuff you want to see.

But I digress, the idea of seeing a movie on a giant drive-in screen does entice me a little. "Hey Jason, your stalker wants to know if he is invited to the party"

Top 3 Songs I Heard In Amsterdam AND Liked:
Akcent - Kylie
Niet Van Gisteren - Waarsmebird?

Sidebar looking a little better

Well I am pretty much done messing around with the sidebar to the right. I changed a few things on the website but nothing too crazy just yet. Still need to think of a color scheme for this site again. Although I am kinda getting used to the beige and blue theme going on (kinda matches my bathroom). It is a far cry away from the bright reds and blues that were all over this site way back in the day. Nevertheless I have a lot left to do on this website before it is really kinda finished. Why am I kidding myself...this thing will never become finalized or complete in any way.

Just got Sufjan Steven's Michigan album. I must say that I have enjoyed it as much as Illinois so far but you can certainly tell a difference in the sound mixing. And speaking of Sufjan, his Illinois album is currently taking up all the space on my Top 25 Most Played list on iTunes. Apparently my iPod's alarm was set to go off and play the Top 25 list. I thought it was odd when I got into the truck the other day and it had to reboot before it would be recognized by my head unit. 30 times over did the list play and kinda skewed everything...so I had to clear some play counts...sadly. Don't want anyone to think I was listening to the Helena 36 times over. I am beginning to think my iPod might be possessed.

Mary's Land

BALTIMORE!
You scored 45% Style, 48% Climate, and 56% Culture!

You are Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore, the largest city in Maryland, is situated in the northern part of the state on the Patapsco River estuary, an arm of Chesapeake Bay. The city is independent and does not fall within any county. Baltimore's economy is very diverse, with strong financial, legal, and nonprofit service industries. The city also leads in scientific research and development through two highly acclaimed medical institutions, Johns Hopkins Hospital and University of Maryland Hospital. There is also a significant tourist sector. Major attractions include the the National Aquarium, Harborplace, the Maryland Science Center, the Babe Ruth Museum, Fort McHenry National Monument, and Pimlico Race Course, site of the Preakness.

While you are not the most stylish individual, you are definitely cultured and are not afraid to try new things, even if they differ from what you're used to. You appreciate diversity in life and definitely like to get out there and have fun. You like the changes in season, although you prefer warmer weather to cold. People find you to be down-to-earth and easy to get along with. Your personality is not grandiose, but just right.

iTunes Project Done!

4302 songs, 13.3 days, 25.71 GB

Well actually I have been done since before the trip to Amsterdam but I have just forgot to post about it. So check out the fairly final library of tunes. Of course I will try and keep this up to date for everyone to see. I know it is a huge file but that is because I have just a ton of music. It is crazy to think that I have over 13 days worth of music on my computer. Right now during the site renovations I am adding all the older posts I have that couldn't be imported via Movabletype.

The Interweb is for porn

This reminds me of Get-A-Clue. Gotta make it up to New York City to see this eventually.

Blogger's Block

Well seem as I having a tough time trying to come up with a redeisn for this site I might as well post something to keep everyone interested. Well about this time last week we got back from the trip to Amsterdam. Yes the rumors are true...I did ask Hakeber to marry me. Check out the rock! Anyways we had a total blast over there. I think I was in hog heaven when the price for a coke was the same as a regular sized beer. Of course I hardly ever ordererd the regular size beer.

Here is what a typical day in Amsterdam might consist of if you were Hakeber or me.

09:00 I wake up.
11:03 Hakeber wakes up (finally)
12:11 Get brunch (tons of places to choose from)
13:20 Stroll around town
15:13 Ice Cream break (or beer)
15:32 "Man this park is way better than any in Georgia"
16:48 "Man this park is huge"
17:12 Fries break (or beer)
18:05 Every store has closed their doors now what do we do?
18:06 Beer break
20:16 Dinner time (decisions, decisions, decisions...)
21:43 Red Light District
22:17 *See Live Sex*
23:21 "Did we just watch live sex for an hour?"
00:14 Back in the hotel room
00:15 Watch live sex on TV in hotel room
00:32 Unknown Entry Event
01:13 Go to sleep to do it all over again

Now if you are a possible smoker you could of course visit some of the many coffeeshops in the town. Let me tell you that every one of those places had people in them. But never buy weed on the streets cause it could be a fake (just passing on the info). Oh yeah, and we also visited some museums and culturally significant places while were there as well.
