Bad Alternator, Bad!

...with his partner in crime, belt

January 30, 2004

Worst Day Ever (on a Friday?)

My Manager went off at me at work for really no reason, I banged up one of my new rims, and my alternator just went out in my truck. Can anything else go wrong? Time for a Friday Five!

Pay Day Eve

I can't tell you how much I wanting to get paid...and the sad part is I know it isn't going to be anything spectacular. In fact I am probably going to be paid the least out of all the staff (hard to explain). I need a hair cut....bad. It has been looking pretty crazy for the past few days but today I just thought to hell with it. I am probably gonna go back to Junko Hair Studio. They did a good job last time and the price isn't half bad for a salon. The only bad thing is I have to wait til they open up now.

On other sad new....the market is sucking because of the federal reserve keeping interest rates low [link]. This means that my investments over the past couple days have just been dropping like mad. But hell...I am in it for the long run...we'll see where I am at a year from now. In other news....Terry Tate is back!

Test Ping #2

Ping...Pong

My Yahoo! RSS Feed

Just a test post to see if I can actually get this site to show up on My Yahoo! page. In case you don't know what I am talking about...check this out!

Why won't it snow?

This entry is basically a rant about everything...if you don't want to get depressed then just read the cartoon and move on with your life.

It has been a long time since I have been in a financial stress. Questions like "Can I pay rent this month?" and "Will I have money to pay off my credit cards?" have been running through my head on a daily basis. The worst part of it all has been working for the past two with a pay cut and yet these have been the worst two weeks of my life. I tried looking for another job to no avail. And now that I am back in school...I am running at full speed once again.

These past few days it has been cold and rainy. Everytime I step outside I ask myself, "Why won't it snow here"? It has recently dawned on me the answer to my question. Nothing is going to go my way for the next few weeks, months, maybe even years. Doesn't look like 2004 is shaping up to be my year. Just because I want it to snow means that is not going to. I know you might think that I am being extremely pessimistic but you have to understand where I am coming from. Everyday this month seems to get worse and worse. I am longing for that one day when I can wake up, look outside, and see the snow falling down. I want one day of peace.

Weekend Recap

As far as the big sale this weekend at the store, we sucked ass compared to all the other stores in Atlanta. I am sure we will get a strong talking to from my district manager. Besides that low...the weekend was pretty good. Went to the Battle of the Bands on Saturday. Let me just say one thing...Prairie View A&M put there thang down. I am still tripping over the smoking cymbals and "funk box". After the awesome show, went to go and party with some Bruhs and Sorors at Strikers. I was out til 3am partying. Just a word to the wise about Strikers...unless you are meeting someone there, it is not the place to just go to.

As for today... What can I say, it has been rainy and cold all day. Suck! I am tired and I need to go to bed...

Stat 2 = Waste of Time

I read the comics, read email, did the crossword puzzle and generally did nothing in Stats class today. That is what you get when you sit me in front of a computer while you are talking about confidence intervals from my first Stat class. I about laughed out loud when I saw the above comic. Time to head home now.

It didn't take long at all...

I have started to type like I am at work. Since changing to the new systems, the keyboard has been reconfigured. For instance....the enter button near the number sluster is still enter but the one in the main cluster is not (it is the new field button). The left control key is still the control function but the right control key is...yep, you guess it....the enter key. Page up and page down still work fine but the end button is a new line button now. And don't forget that the + button in the number cluster is a new field button too. So every once in a while I find myself reaching for the wrong key and then becoming surprised when it doesn't work.

The only positive thing out of this whole system change is that it does force me to type faster. The old system was almost entirely done with the touchpad mouse. The new system give those with a background in keystrokes an upper hand. I would love to go back to being a salesman again...I could make so much money.

Speaking of money...How pissed off would you be if the company you worked for direct deposited your entire paycheck to the wrong account one week? Then how pissed off would you become when you called them up to fix it and find out two weeks later that it messed up once again? Well that is what happened to me. This past paycheck has been the worse though. They are suppose to split my paycheck between two accounts (10% in one and 90% in the other). Well the flipped the percentages between the accounts. Not only that but my commission and bonus was delayed and they had to mail it to me over the King holiday. So that means I still haven't got it yet. Long story short...I can't pay off my credit card bills this month and will now be hit with extra charges. I hate my job...anyone hiring out there?

Some quick truck mods...

I installed a signal unit in my truck to replace the factory electronic flasher. Because I had mixed LED lights and Halogens my turn signals would flash twice as fast. For that reason I hardly used my signals which of course pissed some people off I am sure. So now I can control how fast they flash.

I am also re-painting my front license plate. I need to do the whole air dam but that is not going to happen right away. I gonna do it in chrome this time. Since I am putting on my chrome rims sometime soon, the truck needs to have a little more chrome to balance things out. I will also be painting my side emblems chrome to match. All of this I hope to get done before the rims go on the truck.

My pay got screwed up again...

Time to relax with a Friday Five...

1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?
Well my sig of late has all been work related:

Barry S. Arnson
NTB - 630
Assistant Manager

2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be?
No senior quote.

3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?
My plate says BEARY.

4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say?
The last thing I got that was engraved was a keychain tag that said, "This tassle was worth the hassle". So it is attached to my college tassle of course.

5. What would you like your epitaph to be?
Guess what...I am buried in my truck foo!

Feelin Good Feelin Great, Feelin Great Feelin Good...How Are You?

Scene: Barry's Bedroom at just past 7am this morning.
Camera rolls bed to find Barry half awake pushing the snooze on his alarm while listening to Hakeber in the shower.

Phone Rings

Barry: (Ah Dammitt...I know this has to be work calling this early)

Phone Rings Again

Barry: (I am just gonna let this thing go until the alarm picks up and see who it is)

Phone Rings for Final Time and Answering Machine Picks Up

Phone: This is the security system people, we have an alarm going off at you store saying that the user who opened the store gave the wrong passcode. We will be sending out a police unit to your store unless you call us at 1-800-bla-blah and give us a correct passcode. Thank you and have a nice day.

Barry: (Ah Crapola)

Hakeber enters room after drying off from her shower to find out who called

Barry: Hand me the phone and hit the machine so I can get the number.

Machine repeats message and Barry dials number

Operator: Hello, this is the security system peoples, how may I help you?

Barry: Yeah...(You can go and screw yourself for waking me up this early on my off day)...I just received a phone call this morning regarding a failed passcode entry at my store (Dumb Ass Chris). My store's phone number is 404-wah-waah.

Operator: Yes, it appears as someone tried to enter in the wrong passcode the system and the police have been notified. Would you like to give another passcode to avert the police?

Barry: (Duh!) Yes, my passcode is ********.

Operator: That is not the correct passcode either.

Barry: (Well Shit!) So I guess you are gonna send the police then?

Operator: Yes

Barry: Alright then, bye

..............to be continued??

Speed!

This game is slowly becoming an addiction for me...

Can the last few statements be read back to the court?

You would think from my last entry that I have finally got my computer back online after adding a few hardware bits. Well it has been up most of this duration. I have been kept busy by work and school now. That is right folks...school is back in session and it looks like I am in for a mental treat this semester. With learning a new system at work (and teaching everyone else at the same time) and a class that is really out of my field of research...I am gonna have a tough time. Might as well shoot me now and put me out of my misery.

On a positive note...my 18's for my tuck came in today and they look great. I can't wait to get the tires and see how they look on my truck.

Oh yeah...special thanks goes out to Dave today who came in on his off day to practice on the new system and generally help out. Thank you for braving the mad house that was the store today.

January 10, 2004

CPU Downtime

Well the computer is gonna get a little downtime as I install some new hardware and software. Hakeber and I went the grand opening of a new Office Depot at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Sidney Marcus Road. Got a Battery Backup to keep the network up constantly as well as a DVD drive for my computer. Yeah my computer is behind the times. So in the mean time...enjoy this little SNL skit.

Mr. Affleck and his bag o' tricks

So on Tuesday night Hakeber and I went to Buckhead Backlot for dinner and a movie. Great place where there serve full meals while you watch the movie. It is tough to get into on the weekend and you can't buy your tickets online either. But hell...when they serve beer during the movie it seems like a little slice of heaven.

We saw Paycheck over a pitcher of Bass. I had already heard that critics had given it tough reviews but I was not deterred. I wanted to see the motorcycle chase, and white pigeons, and the many other John Woo eggs. It was a pretty good movie but would have felt more better if I had waited to see it on DVD. It did seem to become a little silly when in every situation Ben would turn to his little bag of random objects and figure a way out. If you haven't seen it yet...don't waste your time now, wait for the rental.

January 7, 2004

200!

This is my 200th posts since switching to movabletype. I would do a full post if it weren't for the kitty on my lap...be back later with something better.

January 5, 2004

That will be $0.50 please...

Hakeber just sent me this news bit over the horn (aka over AIM at work). Guess I won't be visiting my parents anymore up there in L'ville.

Xmas time debt

Well it looks like I over extended by fiances this Christmas seasons. I have around $3,000 to pay off on credits cards this next month. It is gonna be tough but I think I can pay them off. How did I get in such a hole? Well I was on target to go a little over one of my cards which I knew I was gonna be able to take care of...I just totally forgot about tuitom for school. So tack on another $1,400 on another credit card you find me in my present situation. I am gonna have to auction off some of the stuff I own to get back some money here. Be on the lookout for more eBay action!

2 steps forward, 1 step back

Well today I attended a 10 hours training session for the new point of sales system for NTB. It has been herald as being easier to use and more connected to other systems. This of course has yet to be determined. While messing with the system I noticed some of the same problems with old system. Multiple instances of customers, no real display of all items in stock in certain sizes, and different uses of keys are just a few of the potential problems I see in the system. Sure the system is great for creating a working history of a customer all over the nation but it depends on how the infomation was entered into the system and if it was entered correctly.

Two other big issues I have with the new systems are the lack of external email (even between stores) and no internet access what so ever. Even with the older system we had limited access to certain sites and could email anyone we wanted. This is just pushing me to create a wireless network for our store to use. I need to quit talking shop on here....

Saturday Night In

New Year's Sexy Saturday!

What's your sexual new year's resolution? What bad bed habits do you have that need to be broken now?

I really don't have one. Maybe it is because I can't think of one thing I could change. I would say that I would want to look more sexy. Do that by losing weight and man scaping more often. Other than that, I would say that need to change my behavior in bed. I tend to give too much in bed at first and then end up wanting. I joke with Hakeber about how after each of us orgasm, she wants to go to sleep and I want to keep going. Maybe I would change that if I could.
