Weekend? Never heard of it...

It is almost bill paying time so in order to earn a little extra cash, I am dog-sitting for my parents. Well, not really. My rents went up to Chapel Hill to see Yellow Jackets kick some Tar Heel ass. I must say that is was a good game, the parts that I saw since I was working. I am really beginning to think that I need a different job. I am working full-time but I don't want to be in the first place. My intent was to go part-time as soon as school started up. Well that just hasn't happened. So right now I am dog-sitting the family dog for the weekend. I guess the rents are going to pick him up sometime today. This dog is so fat though. I take around the neighborhood and run him around because he needs the exercise. A Beagle is not suppose to weight 35 pounds.

So I finally saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding this weekend with Hakeber and I must admit it was better than I was expecting. It was her choice so this means it gonna be mine next time. I really want to see One Hour Photo. It looks like a good money despite not putting up the numbers. I we will have to see, I need to find time off of work in the first place anyway.

I am glad to see Hump Day

I have the next two days off from work. How the hell did that happen? Then I think I work again on Saturday and then have two more days off again. I tell you, pay day this Friday is going to be sweet. I love Direct Deposit. But I must say the days leading up to tonight have been hell. I survived two tests in the graduate classes I am taking at State. Today the manager at work was gone, so I took over for unloading the tire truck when it came it. I personally touched over 300 tires today. I had to tempt death by walking on top of the tire racks that we stack them on in the warehouse. It clearly states not to do this on little signs all over the place. So in a 30 foot high warehouse, I was about 10 feet from the ceiling. Kinda gives you a new perspective on things. It also makes you think of your own mortality, especially when it states on the warning signs that you could die from falling off. I am sure a 20 foot drop on to cement floors would not be a good experience. But this is the only way I know how to do it, and I learned it from my boss. I am sure everyone does it but just so the company won't be sued, they have all those freakin' signs everywhere. So after moving 300+ tires into their individual places in the warehouse (yes, there is some order to the chaos), I was pretty damn tired. Then I went to class and took my second test of the week. I have had a pretty rough week....these next two days off will be sweet!

Well it looks like we will be getting a ton of rain the rest of the week. Well I am sure parts of the Dirty South will be getting more rain than Atlanta. Can you believe that Kelly Clarkson the American Idol chick has the number one single in the country right now. That just makes me sick. I had a Zen Garden at one time, but it was one of those you could fit on your office workstation. Looks like someone stole my idea for the Waybac Machine. This is a cool Harpsichord. To bad it is still the stupidest instrument ever invented. American Candidate? What the hell is the world coming to?? I guess even legos need to take a break once in a while.

Where does the weekend go??

I know where it goes actually. I never actually have the weekend. Since I work almost everyday, I lose track of the days. My next day off from is this Thursday and I am really looking forward to it. This week is just filled with so much stuff to do. I had a test in one of my classes at State today. It went pretty good but I wasn't worried about that one. I have another test on Wednesday that is gonna be the real tough one, because I have no time to study for it between here and then. Oh well, there is better things to focus on I guess. Everyone check out the new Google News You have to love fast loading, low bandwidth news pages. I think that and Drudge Report are my personal favorites now. Both just give the best of the bad news and worst news. Cause isn't all news just bad news? I stand corrected. Well I am just gonna chill for a little while, listen to some P-funk, and then hit the sack. Keep it real, see you on the flip-flop. Be sure to check out Kellegous, Grayscale, and Unxmaal for some serious blogging actions. Also my girlfriend updated her site.

I get my hair cut by a man named Mister...

I get my hair cut by a man named Mister... When I first met this interesting person I inquired as to the truth of him name. He again told me that his first name was indeed Mister. He then proceeded to tell me a story of how he got his name that really opened my eyes.

See, Mister's parents had lived in the deep south of Mississippi where there still was a lot of prejudice toward Black people. Now growing up in those times was a tough time for any person to do, let alone being a different color. Living in a society of derogatory words toward any person of different color, his parent thought of a clever idea to overcome this obstacle. In a time of all Black men being called "Boy!" or worse, his parents named him Mister. He would always be called a name of respect where ever he went.

I began to think about this while he was cutting my hair and it really moved me. It occurred to me that a lot of times people don't treat others with as much respect as they deserve. I get this constantly at work from people who believe I am less of a person for selling tires for a living. Even though this happens on a daily basis, I still treat the other person with the utmost respect. I am always reminded of Mister and story he told me when i greet another person, and I can only hope they will return that respect back to me.

Whew, where am I?

So what did I do on my day off from work and school. Study for the two exams have next week....hell no. I went and washed my truck and drank a shit load of beer. The nice thing about living in the Atlanta area is the fact there are a lot of microbrewers that have give tours of the brewery. Of course you never have to go on the tours, and you get to drink all the beer you want to. So for $5, myself and Hakeber consumed about $30 worth of beer. It was good times. Meeting up with ole drinking buddies and drinking ourselves silly. Ending the evening at the local Mexican restaurant. Nothing cools the spirits like chips, salsa, and more beer. Right now I am drunk iff my ass and need some sleep. I had to retype this post like 20 times. Let me give props to Brendanverse and Retnuh. You guys rock hardcore for being sober half the time. (note: if there are spelling or grammatical errors...please mind that I am drunk).

Who is yo SugaDaddy??

Well today was a pretty uneventful day. I didn't sell much at work, and classes were kinda boring. I have a test next week in the class, I already think I am ready for it. The two things that made day seem better both occurred in the same place. The first one was when I saw a guy walk straight into an automatic door that just wasn't too automatic at the time. The funny part was when he tried and play it off like nothing happened. The second thing was something I found in the same area. Next to the automatic doors to the building was this little thing posted up with tape. This was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time. Here is what it says:

80/20

I believe it was 80/20 at the concert. I will explain... Well the opening band known as Charlie Hunter was pretty good. A little jazz fusion stuff, but it just didn't seem to move the crowd much who was just waiting for their Pop sensation or Boston rockers. What I mean by 80/20 is that it seemed that 80% of the crowd was diehard Mayer fans and there were only like 20% Guster. It also seemed like 80% of the show was dedicated to Mr. Mayer. Maybe, not really... Guster did have a fun set and played a few new songs and a few old stuff, stuff that people knew mainly. They really brought down the house when Bryan went off on the "Airport Song". The change between bands was quick. John Mayer was on stage for about an hour and a half. During his show, Guster made a cameo wearing nothing but buckets from KFC on their heads and diapers with John Mayer's images painted on the crotch area.

There were a few points in the evening that were amusing. The first couple were the cameo appearances of other band member during performances. The next would have to be the fact that when John Mayer sang something that its on his current album, the crowd basically shut up. Kinda like they all thought at once, "He has other stuff?" But I think the best part of the whole evening was the off stage act from Decatur, GA. It was band known as Lithp and they were more than entertaining. During their crazy show, Adam and Ryan from Guster came out from backstage and listen to them on the sideline. Hakeber and I noticed them and waved to them. Ryan waved back to us. After the Lithp finished up we met some of the band members, got a CD and had them sign it. Maybe I will try and make it to one of the shows around town. In the mean time, I am off to Troy, AL today. If you don't know where that is....that probably makes you less redneck than the rest of us. Be gone all day....lata.

I just drank a Colt 45

So after watching my alma mater get beaten by Climpsu[suck]n, I am ready for the rest of the day to come. That is right people...I am going to the Guster/John Mayer concert tonight! I have been hearing it publicized on the radio for the past couple of weeks and ready for it. Now I like both John Mayer and Guster, but even though it is a co-headlining tour....John Mayer has been called the headliner for the past couple weeks. It is kinda driving me crazy cause Guster has been around longer and in my eyes is a much better band than Mr. Mayer. I mean John only has one CD out and only like 20 songs to his name. Guster on the other hand has been around for several years and has 3 CDs out and coming out with their fourth this fall. I remember seeing John Mayer last year before he blew up when he truly opened up for Guster at the Tabernacle. Then is remarked that it was the first time he had played to a three-level venue. Now a year later the scene is flipped and they are now playing in a place much bigger. All I can think is that the guys from Guster are real good sports for letting him get his fame. I mean John Mayer is gonna get his 15 minutes of fame and then go away with all the rest of the pop artists. He rose too quick and I am sure he will fall even quicker. So I am gonna go and see the Guster/John Mayer concert (not the reverse)....be back later with the review.

Guster is coming to town!

Is that true? maybe it is, but I have taken a lot of those wacky online quizzes and just wonder at their validity at all. I tell you though, I have seen some crazy stuff this week on the Internet that others have found. There was a lot talk about rabbits for some reason. You can poke a rabbit in the butt. Even a rabbit who chases your mouse around. That is all silly stuff though. Ever been asked, "ASL?" Well it looks like Nick Nolte got nailed for driving around while intoxicated. Silly actor people! Thanks Phat you have made me addicted to this game. Although, I can't say the same about this game. Well I think that is about it for now. Made props to *.tmp for his site redesign.

America Remembers

It seemed every you looked today was filled with images of the the World Trade Center and Pentagon. I watched on the TV as all the names of people who perished were read at ground zero. The whole seems to slow down and take a moment for itself. let's just say that I even caught myself thinking about where I was and what I was doing when I first heard the tragic news. You can check out my blog from last September for all that I wrote. It was a scary time in America's history and I was really detached at the time...I couldn't believe i was experiencing it. Today I almost felt as alone in the world I did that day. I was grateful then and still now to have Hakeber in my life. As I watched some of the memorial done today in various places throughout the Atlanta area, I couldn't help but wonder why America is still in a mournful attitude toward the attacks. So I found this article talking about how America felt after Pearl Harbor. Of course I think the world was different then. The rest of the world was at war, then they just decided to attack us. This is a different situation in which there really wasn't anything going on in the world so to speak. I think the thing that still hits me the hardest was actually being in NYC on the 8th last year. Seeing the WTC standing one day and then a few days later they were gone. Truly a sad day today....I don't even remember the birds singing at all.

I am not into Nascar

So working at NTB has given me a respect for good looking cars. Well I have always been an automobile enthusiast, but I think it has grown since working there. A few days ago a an came in for his free rotation and balance on his 1981 Mercedes 240 D. The damn thing has 695,000 miles on it and in great condition. You have to respect those kind of people who buy a car and plan to keep it forever. Then you get those kind of people who lease their car and don't realize that they have to get tires rotated or even that you have to change the oil either. Those people should be charged "stupid-people penalties". But it crazy what car companies are coming up with in the next couple of year. For instance, Peugeot is coming out with a car fire truck known as H2O. Now that is pretty cool, but it is not gonna catch over here. Car companies are really traveling toward a fusion of all kinds of cars. In fact, the Subaru Baja has already arrived and ready to be purchased. It basically is a car/truck thing with all-wheel drive. I think the dang thing is silly and it probably won't sell much. I mean, how many El Caminos do you see on the road now.

let's crunch the numbers now...

So I think I have very little time to do anything in my life. I am always pressed for time in some situations. So I thought I would do some number crunching with everyone out there so that people might learn from my experience. Let's just start with basics in my life. I work about 40+ hours a week, but let's just say I would 40 hours flat (round numbers are always easier). Well in addition to working full time, I am also going to the school full time. In grad school, full time is considered 9 hours of class work. Then consider that I have to study at least three hours extra for each hour of class hour I have. So we have some adding to do...

     40 hours of work
+   9 hours of classes
+  27 hours of study time
     76 hours total

Now there is 24 hours in a day, so in a week there is 134 hours. However, it would be impossible to be awake for all those hours, so only 2/3 of the day is usable because of needed sleep. That leaves 16 hours/day and 112 hours/week. Then compute in the daily activities you have to do (dressing, bathroom, eating, sex, etc.) then you have to figure in at least 4 hours/day or 28 hours/week. So now lets figure all that together.

112 hours total in a week
 -  76 hours for work and class
 -  28 hours for daily activities
     8 hours of free time!

So the true lesson for everyone out there is that the real world sucks, but I am sure you knew that already.

All spaced out

Well it looks like Nsync's Lance Bass will not be going into space after all. But as Mr. Bass would like to point out in the image to the left, he won't really miss the trip cause he has plenty of space between his ears. But in all seriousness, there is some discrepancies in the reports. Both BBC and CNN report that the trip is off stating that Lance just couldn't come up with the money. Not to discourage all NSyncers that he will have less cosmonaut photo opts, Lance's people told ET that,

"The trip is not over. Lance is in Russia and we are still in negotiations. We feel very confident that there will be a resolution soon and the trip will go on as planned."

Why the sudden obsession with Lance Bass you might ask? Well cause this is practically the only thing news stations have been covering for the past few weeks. It is not like there isn't other stuff out there, but it just seems like too many networks our obsessed with popular culture now. All I know is that I need to stop eating this fat soaked Mickey D's fries, get off the couch, and do something fun. I realized yesterday that I hardly plug anyone anymore on this site....well here is making up for lost time.

I need to stop and smell the roses...

Every once in a while I realize that life is passing me by way too quickly. That I am running out of time during the day to do everything I want to do. That I just take life to seriously and need to loosen up a bit. This is the state I am in now. I need to take a rest, figure out where I am in my life, and figure out where or what I want to do. When I do this I find myself liking where I am right now. I like the fact that I am going to grad school (even though it is not the program I desired at first), I like the fact I sell tires right now, and I love the fact I live with my girlfriend. Life is just good for me right now, even though I can barely rub two pennies together. Tomorrow I have to work on Labor Day, but that is alright cause life is good. So check out Retnuh, Yezbick, Grabbingsand, and Unxmaal for some entertainment stuff.
